Free Bicycle Deck Deal

In case you haven’t picked this up elsewhere, we have noticed that MA ProMagic are offering a free deck of Bicycle Cards with every order over £25. They seem to have a good range of magic so well worth a look if you have other purchases in mind.

A solution to postal frustration!

If you, like me, are getting a bit frustrated by all the delivery problems caused by Royal Mail strike action, why not download some instant card magic?

I’ve just noticed that the all time classic of Card Magic, The Expert at the Card Table is only $2.95 (i.e. about £1.78) in a nicely formatted electronic edition. Download away!

Or if you fancy something a bit more contemporary, then what about:

1 3 1 - By Bill Perkins - INSTANT DOWNLOAD

4 not too difficult card routines with maximum impact – and at £8.99 that is only a couple of pounds a trick!

The Genius of Bannon

Regular readers will know that I am something of a fan of the work of John Bannon – something I first came across in the wonderful book Dear Mister Fantasy. He has a knack for producing clever, subtle and effective card magic.

Well the good folk at BBM are shortly releasing a 2DVD set of his work called Bullets After Dark and have kindly made a review copy available to me. I haven’t had time to view it yet (but soon…) but if you pre-order you get some brilliant extras which I HAVE looked at already.

There is a an e-book called Open and Notorious which is on the theme of the classic Open Prediction. This is fantastic! I love it. There are 3 different versions – they won’t please the purists since they do not fulfill all the original requirements – but to my mind they are still very strong effects, and potentially more entertaining for the spectator than the original premise. Classic Bannon.

You also get a little video preview and explanation of a trick called Chain Gang. This is a sort of 3 card sandwich (collectors) type effect – requiring some facility with cards, but very clean.

I presume that these goodies will only be supplied with pre-orders, so I suggest you go over and pre-order now!

More Bargains – wide range of Card and other Magic

Just in case anyone hasn’t found this yet, Kernow Magic have recently re-launched their site and have got some really good reductions in their specials section. Well worth a look…

Free pack of Bicycle Cards!

We’re pleased to say that Merlins of Wakefield have just started advertising with us. I visited Merlins recently – they are one of the ever dwindling number of real bricks and mortar magic shops – and have an excellent range of all kinds of magic. They have just launched a new website too. And as a special deal for readers of this site, they are offering a FREE pack of Bicycle Cards if you make an order with them (between April and June) and mention this site.

Blogging Blackpool 09

My friends at the Sussex Magic Circle are providing their (now annual!) blog on the world famous Blackpool Magic Convention. Starting tomorrow, they will be providing their views, and are promising pictures and evern videos so you can see what you’re missing if you’re not there…

Check out their blog at: Blogging Blackpool.

What’s new?

I’ve been inundated with adverts and deals recently, but this has been my first opportunity to post any of them. So here goes…

The boys at BBM have recently launched Gafftastic which promises to be “a collection of mind frying, easy card magic using special Gaff cards. All of the required gaff cards come free with the DVD. That’s 13 cool gaffs printed by the USPCC!” I’ve not seen it yet, but BBM rarely disappoint. (£17.99) Oh yes, and they’ve got some more Karnival Decks in stock.

Peter Duffie has released a couple of previously marketed effects (Pronto-Print & Vortex) as e-tricks. If you buy both you get a discount and a free trick! See PeterDuffie.com

Paul Gordon is offering some new tricks and books for 2009 including a re-vamp of the classic ‘Insurance Policy.’ I have been enjoying watching his ‘Live in Action’ DVD recently – well worth a look.

And regular readers will know I am a fan of Roberto Giobbi. He has released a follow up to Card College Light called… Card College Lighter. Definitely worth a look. The cheapest I’ve found it is at Studio9Magic for £21.99.

That will do for now. Happy Bicycle Card Bargain Hunting!

LOTS of Magic

Last night I went to the launch party of a new Magic Auction site called LOTS of Magic. It was a great evening with an excellent show and an introduction to the site, which looks very good. Basically a way of buying and selling your second hand magic in a more specialised environment than somewhere like Ebay. Well worth a look. And yes, I spotted some Bicycle Cards for sale…

Custom Gaff Bicycle Cards and some beautiful vintage cards

Heirloom Vintage Deck
There has been a certain amount of chat in the magic community about the Heirloom Cards available (exclusively?) from Card-Shark.de.

These are very nice looking vintage style cards which would look good in a whole range of magic. They are the ones Paul Gordon uses in his rather nice Corner Of Picadilly (3 Card Monte) routine.

Although (obviously) not Bicycle Cards, I mention them for their general interest. And Card Shark also offer a customised gaff service, printing on to Bicycle Card stock. I haven’t tried them myself (but would love to hear from you if you have experience of their service) but it looks like a good service.

The Creative Card Magic of Peter Duffie

We are please that Peter Duffie has joined our team of sponsors. Peter is well-known for his encyclpedic knowledge of all things to do with Card Magic and is the creator and publisher of many fine effects and manuscripts.

His website is well worth a visit, not just for the products for sale, but for the FREE tricks he makes available there. They are regularly updated, and there is an archive of previously published ideas too.
