Bicycle Cards in a Bottle!

ImpossiBottleJust over a year ago we mentioned the availability of this most unusual of ornaments – a genuine pack of Bicycle Cards sealed in a glass bottle. At the time they were only occasionally available in the UK, but now Phil Evans has set up a new site ImpossibleBottle.co.uk where you can purchase one of these wonderful things. What could be more magical than a pack of cards in a bottle?!

More new Bicycle Decks – Raider Backs & League Backs

Bicycle White Raider Backs

The Raiders are available in Black or White, and for my money have a little bit of the look of the Karnival Deck. I’ve not handled a pack so can’t comment on their performance.

Bicycle League Backs

Both now in stock at Card Collection but the Raiders are cheaper at MagicTao (only £3.99).

An incredible Bicycle Card Collection

I have to say at the outset, I can’t quite decide whether to laugh, cry or admire a video like this.  Although I am a big fan of Bicycle Cards this seems to be verging on the obsessive.  Not all these cards are available in the UK – but it gives you something to aspire to…

Bicycle Cards at Freepost Magic

Our friends at Freepost Magic have got a new link which gets you to all their lovely Bicycle Cards at once.  They’ve got the Karnival decks (Assasins and Midnights, not Renegades yet) for £5.99  and regular decks for £2.29 (all with FREE 1st class UK delivery – which is why they are still top on our Cheapest Bicycle Card Finder).  Click through to Freepost Magic and follow the link in the main navigation.

Paul Gordon also has some new stuff out.  A DVD on Useful Card Sleights, another with some new tricks, and also his Triple Rainbow Whammy – a great (and easy to do) trick that looks very appealing.

VAT Rises and Bicycle Cards

Happy New Year to you! We have been round and double checked the prices on our Cheapest Bicycle Card Finder so you can make sure you are still getting your cards for magic at the cheapest price in 2010!

The good news is that the VAT rise doesn’t seem to have made a lot of difference yet. Only one price rise since the last check. Though sadly a couple of smaller dealers no longer seem to have websites so have possibly felt the crunch.

Hope you’re continuing to enjoy your card magic. If you want to take part in a survey to find the best card trick – follow this link to Vanishing Inc.

Arcane Deck from Ellusionist

OK, so not strictly Bicycle Playing Cards, but still printed by the USPCC. Interestingly they are released formally today, the day after the new Karnivals. I was going to provide some more information, but the Ellusionist site seems to have collapsed under the weight of all those magic card geeks popping over to have a look. Why not try http://www.ellusionist.com/arcane-deck-playing-cards.html when the dust has settled in a day or so :-)

Tragic Bicycle Cards

Whilst I know these aren’t new, I was recently given a pack, which has enabled me to have a closer look at them, and since there haven’t been any new cards out for a while, I thought I would post a pic and some comments!

Tragic Bicycle Cards

As well as having the comical/tragic court cards, all the pips have been treated with extra ’serifs’ which certainly add some character. The cards also glow under blacklight – so I can imagine a number of niche settins where these could be quite fun! In addition to the normal ’spooky’ presentations, they could be used to bring a more comic look to some ‘packet’ tricks etc. Although the different back design (grey instead of white borders etc, cherubs in red, and ‘black’ as the remaining colour) would obviously stand out.

But they handle as well as ordinary Bicycle Cards and so are definitely worth a look.

You can buy a pack of Tragic Bicycle Cards here for £3.98.

Cheapest Bicycle Cards!

There is a new top entry in our Cheapest Bicycle Card Finder (although that is only due to stocking issues – the very cheapest are not available at the moment.).

BicycleTricks.co.uk have also started stocking regular Bicycle Decks (in addition to their specialised service selling small quantities of gaffed Bicycle Cards for Magicians in the UK) – and they are currently the second cheapest in stock price. They can be found under the Magic Bargains section of the site.

Bargains at MagicBox.uk.com

The folk at MagicBox have got loads of magic DVDs on sale at the moment – many 50% off. They also have a new page all about Bicycle Cards. Why not take a look?
