Trick of the Month – February 2011

Here are some more recommendations from Bicycle-Cards.co.uk

Further Education by John ArcherAlthough this site is primarily about card magic, the flavour of this DVD is mentalism. Before you get too worried, several of the items do involve cards, and it just so happens to contain the Penn & Teller fooling routine with envelopes and bank notes. John is a superb performer and Further Education comes highly recommended. £29.99

Move Over & Go (MATRIX WITHOUT COINS)

Move Over and Go is a new effect to me – it is a kind of matrix routine with playing cards with an extra surprise at the end of the routine. Pretty easy to do – and a bargain at only £10.50

Magic and Meaning Expanded by Eugene Burger and Robert Neale - Book

If you have been in magic for more than a little while you will no doubt have come across the legendary Eugene Burger. However, it is only this last week that I have been reading a book by Robert Neale – and loving it! He is a great thinker on magic and has come up with some wonderful presentations. This book is all about the theory and presentation of magic – and as such is suitable for magicians who are more serious about their art. (if you would like to investigate some of Neale’s presentations, try – This is not a book) Only £29.99

Trick of the Month – December 2009

The Zenneth Code DVD - By Zenneth Kok Zenneth Kok has something of a reputation when it comes to card magic, and this DVD teaches a series of powerful card routines and moves. Currently available at just over half price – a bargain at £11.50
Magic With Meaning - By Eugene Burger and Robert Neale Regular readers will know I am both a Eugene Burger and a Magic Book fan. So this one comes highly recommended. This is a modern expanded reprint of the original classic. If you want to be stimulated and challenged to think more creatively about your magic then this will be a wonderful investment. £24.99
Bullet - By James Prince - INSTANT DOWNLOAD Here’s an interesting effect which combines the classic ‘card on ceiling’ with the ‘Sharpshooter’ plot to make an impossible piece of magic. It’s an instant download, so no hanging around for the postman… £9.99

Trick of the Month – Jan 2009

Arm Band Mystery By Hiro Sakai This is an unusual trick which I have not seen before, where a metal arm band penetrates a chosen card. Very visual. £18.95
Exploring Magical Presentations by Eugene Burger - DVD I have recently been reading some classic Eugene Burger books and have been reminded again of his great thinking about magic and in particular how to perform magic that moves people. This DVD is a masterclass in presentation and will help you think more creatively about your magic. £21.95
Flipper 10p (Pro-Quality) - Standard Version The ‘Flipper’ coin was one of the first gimmicked coins I owned and is incredibly versatile. (Check out – Craig Petty’s excellent Flipped Out DVD if you want more ideas with it). Here is a good quality version for £22.95.
